Sandy Hughes
Flute
Sandy Hughes was appointed Second Flute and Piccolo for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra by Jeffrey Kahane in 2012.
She spent five seasons performing regularly with the New York Philharmonic, including the 2013 European tour and its productions of Company and Sweeney Todd, both of which aired on PBS. Sandy is an active freelance, chamber, and studio musician. Her recording work may be heard across many forms of entertainment including the TV series Family Guy, American Dad, and Mozart in the Jungle, the video game League of Legends, and various feature films. Sandy has appeared at numerous summer festivals including Bravo Vail, Ravinia, and Sarasota Chamber Music and has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Colorado Symphony, and Hollywood Chamber Orchestra. She was previously a member of the Akron Symphony.
A Fulbright Grant recipient, New World Symphony finalist, and twice a fellow of both the Tanglewood and Aspen summer festivals, Sandy earned her Master of Music in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Hartford, and a Bachelor of Music from the Hartt School of Music. Her major teachers include Robert Langevin, Cindy Meyers, and John Wion.
