Leah Hansen
Cello
Leah Hansen has performed in numerous solo, concerto, chamber, and orchestra concerts.
Hansen earned her Bachelors of Music and Masters of Music degree in Cello Performance at the USC Thornton School of Music, with Professor Andrew Shulman, and is currently the principal cellist in the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
She won first place at the LA Cello Society Scholarship Competition, the Discovery Prize in the National Debut Competition sponsored by the YMF, first place in ASTA California State Finals, and first place in the Mondavi Young Artist Competition.
In 2004, Leah was asked to perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the “John Kerry and Friends” presidential fundraiser, and she also performed in the Irvine Barclay Theater for “Stars of Tomorrow”. She has performed as soloist with the Pacific Symphony on a four-city tour, and with the Culver City, Bellflower, Brentwood, Inland Valley, West Covina, Mt. St. Mary’s, South Coast, and YMF Debut Symphonies. Leah currently studies with Ronald Leonard at the Colburn School of Music. Her coaches include Alan Stepansky, Andrew Schulman, Janos Starker, Richard Aaaron, Amit Peled, Steven Doane, Timothy Eddy, and David Finckel.
