Gabrielle Rosse Owens is a composer of orchestral, chamber, and vocal music.
Orchestral works include When Evening Comes (2017) and Royal Diadem (2018). Recent chamber works include Shadows and Songs (2019), performed by Salastina Music Society, The Lyris Quartet, and the Carpe Diem Quartet; The Prophecy of Daniel (2018), performed by soprano Hila Plitmann and The Lyris Quartet at the 2019 Hear Now Festival; The Tell-Tale Heart (2018), performed by the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble; Homeward Flight (2018), written for Armen Ksajikian, associate principal cello with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; Balancing Act (2018), performed by pianist José Menor; and Three Folk Songs (2016), winner of the Boston New Music Initiative’s 2017 Call for Scores. Upcoming projects include Clandestine, a one act opera which addresses the effects of human trafficking on the survivor family. Honors and awards include the Elaine Krown Klein Award, the Deglin Award, and full scholarships to the Sorbonne University, Temple University, and UCLA.
