Harp
Allison Allport’s harp music is heard on many movies scores, including John William’s score to Star Wars, The Force Awakens and the upcoming Star Wars: The last Jedi.
Allison maintains a busy performance schedule with orchestras such as Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, and Santa Barbara Symphony. Allison also performs and records across many different genres, including with bands such as Weezer, The Used and Lord Huron. Allison studied harp with JoAnn Turovsky at the University of Southern California, earning a Doctorate of Music with several distinctions including a full-tuition scholarship and Outstanding Graduate Award. Allison’s other honors include winning first prize in the American String Teacher’s Association National Solo Competition and performing at the World Harp Congress in Prague. Allison loves to teach. She maintains a large private studio and teaches on the faculty of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program. Allison enjoys the challenges and rewards of finding the best way to help each student achieve their goals.
