Jaime Martín Music Director
Anne-Akiko Meyers Violin
A truly musical correspondence for the ages finds itself in a concert bridging generations of music guided by Music Director Jaime Martín. Celebrating the 25th year of Sound Investment, Juhi Bansal’s orchestral missive opens this program of harmonious exchange. World renowned violinist Anne-Akiko Meyers takes control to lead the west coast premiere of Eric Whitacre’s The Pacific Has No Memory, a meditation on nature and a piece written for her. Finishing with a flourish is the raw expressivity of Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony and the effervescent brilliance of Prokofiev’s first symphony, “Classical.”
