Meditate on sorrow, forgiveness, and the divine feminine as countertenor Reginald Mobley interprets Vivaldi’s rendition of Stabat Mater. Stroll through England in good company with songs by Purcell and Dowland before hearing Handel’s Eternal Source of Light Divine, written for Queen Anne’s birthday in 1713. Baroque trumpet features throughout, including the World Premiere of End of Empire, a LACO commission by Jeff Beal.

Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal and his wife, Joan, have donated $2 million to establish the Joan and Jeff Beal Fund for Living Composers. Their generous gift will help revolutionize contemporary classical music by empowering LACO to commission groundbreaking new orchestral works from entertainment industry composers, highlighting LACO’s long-standing Hollywood connection.

Feel the heat of summer nights in Berlioz’s seductive song cycle as you’re serenaded by chanteuse Michelle DeYoung in her return to our stages. The dream continues with ballet masterpieces by Debussy and Fauré, with Matthias Pintscher returning to the podium in this French program.
